Today I talked with students from the EV “Student Formula” racing teams from Aichi Institute of Technology, Nagoya Institute of Technology, and Nagoya University.
I previously spoke with a couple students from Nagoya University and a group at Shizuoka University.
We talked about what they do for their involvement with their teams, their studies, and their part-time jobs.
I’m reasonably confident I will be able to hire students from these teams to work part-time to build prototypes of the pod car.
It’s very impressive to me that a group of students can come together and build such a complicated machine in about 8 months. The pod car will be much simpler.
A key distinction I discussed with some of the students is that they’re building one vehicle.
Pod car needs to be designed to build many vehicles, a million or more units. Also efficiency and low cost rather than speed and handling. Very different design objectives.
E05 is NIT. E04 is NU. E11 is AIT.
